Who we are.
Formed in 2002, the Educational Fund serves as the educational trunk of the Alaska CHARR tree, working alongside Alaska CHARR Future Hospitality Leaders Program, the roots of our tree, nurturing the future of the industry by developing skilled talent within our state's school districts. And the Alaska CHARR Association, our branches, reaching out to support and advocate for the broader hospitality community. Together they are dedicated to advancing, training, and empowering our state's hospitality industry.
Historically, the hospitality industry has not required formal workforce development programs, but the landscape changed dramatically after the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In response, our national partners have developed and expanded programming to help rebuild and strengthen the hospitality workforce across the U.S.
Alaska shares these goals, and through the Alaska CHARR Education Fund, we leverage our national partnerships and collaborate with state and community organizations to target at-risk populations. By offering training and opportunities to those facing challenges, we not only strengthen our industry but also contribute to a safer, more productive, and enjoyable environment for dining, lodging, and overall hospitality experiences across the state.
